About Me

Hi, I’m Cody - it’s nice to meet you!

I currently live in Fairfax, VA with my puppy, Ann Perkins. I grew up in Henry County, VA and studied psychology, theater, leadership, and social change at Virginia Tech (c/o 2016, go Hokies). When I’m not entertaining, I’m working to provide schools with the education technology they need, serving as the Customer Experience Manager for Secured Tech Solutions.

When I was young, I loved picking the CD in the car - not just for myself, but because I loved finding music that everyone could enjoy. In high school, a local business owner decided to open up his facility for weekend teen nights but didn’t have the funds to continuously pay a professional DJ. Despite a lack of formal experience, a friend recommended I be hired to bring music to the events. It was just for fun at first, but I quickly realized that I may have a knack for it. I began DJ’ing professionally in 2011 and have since provided and created music for hundreds of events, including weddings, parties, family reunions, dance teams, festivals, and fundraisers. I’ve even been fortunate to open several concerts for the likes of T-Pain, Action Bronson, The White Panda, Fetty Wap, Bowling For Soup, Sammy Adams, and Lil Dicky. I truly believe music unifies all of us while also allowing us the opportunity to express ourselves as individuals, and that’s what I love about it… you can sing a song to 85,000 different people and they’ll all sing it back to you for 85,000 different reasons. I genuinely enjoy getting to bring energy, enthusiasm, and excitement to the events I DJ, so thanks for considering me.

“Don’t try to change the world. Find something that you love and do it everyday. Do that for the rest of your life and, eventually, the world will change.” — Ben Haggerty

Mentoring Matters

Growing up, I spent most of my time volunteering with my local 4-H program. During my tenure with 4-H, I’ve been fortunate to serve in a multitude of different roles ranging from a volunteer, to a summer camp staff member, to a state cabinet member. It was these many experiences that shaped one of my biggest passions - working with youth. During my junior year of college at Virginia Tech, after searching for ways to get involved in the surrounding community, I was fortunate to meet the Sands family and subsequently found Virginia Tech’s chapter of College Mentors for Kids. Upon my graduation in 2016, I joined the College Mentors National Office and served as the organization’s Senior Associate Director of Programming for 4 years.

Gobble, Gobble

From 2012 to 2016, I was blessed to serve as Virginia Tech’s Mascot, The HokieBird. While excited for the opportunity, I had no idea how much this experience would come to shape me, how many amazing memories I would make, or how many lifelong friends I would come to meet.
